This is a photo of me standing at Pt. Barrow, which is about 9 miles outside of Barrow, Alaska, and is literally as far north as you can go and still be on land. That's the Arctic Ocean behind me. Nothing but water between me and the North Pole. In the photo, I'm signing a legal pleading that I brought with me. The way I figure it, there have only been a few thousand people ever licensed to practice law in the state of Alaska. And Alaska is really big and hard to travel around, so very few Alaskans have ever been to Barrow. There's no real reason to go there unless you are a subsistence fisherman or work for an oil company and even then you are more likely to stay in town (Pt. Barrow is infested with polar bears). And out of those intrepid souls who do make the journey, very few are silly enough to bother trying something like this, so... I believe that signing this motion makes me the world record holder for most northern practice of U.S. law. Hooray!
